FIR was filed by CBI in the case related to missing coins worth Rs 11 Crore from the Mehandipur Balaji branch of SBI after the Rajasthan High Court directed CBI to investigate into missing coins worth 11 crores.
Accordingly, the Mehandipur SBI bank filed an FIR in August of 2021 reporting a discrepancy in the total value of coins that are deposited in the bank and those that were found during the audit.
The FIR also mentions that during the counting a vendor informed the bank that one of his employees who is involved in the counting has received life threats from 10-15 armed men.
subsequently, SBI moved to the Rajasthan High Court seeking a direction from CBI to take over the case and an FIR was registered in August.
The bank also prayed that the FIR registered by the vendor regarding the life threats should also be investigated.
Accordingly, the High Court noted that as per CVC and RBI guidelines frauds of over Rs 3 crores have to be investigated by the ACB Branch of CBI and proceeded to allow the petition.
