The Delhi high court registry in the case of RAJEEV CHANDWANI AND ORS vs UNION OF INDIA AND ORS has granted an unnamed person’s request to postpone the case till after vacation. surprised After learning that a case related to real estate developer Spaze Towers Pvt Ltd was listed for hearing after summer vacations despite the Court’s ruling to list it on June 3, single-judge Justice Yashwant Varma sought an explanation from its joint-registrar (listing). The case will now be heard on July 8.
Ishan Singh, a landowner, filed the case through counsel Naman Singh of Joshi & Singh chambers, requesting a probe by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into Spaz’s alleged large-scale siphoning of money through sham firms.
When the lawyers questioned the registry and the concerned joint registrar, they were told that the listing performa had a handwritten note on it that said “list the matter after vacation” and “please list the matter on July 5, 2022 as counsel is not accessible.”
Joshi then brought the case before Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi’s bench. On the same day, Justice Sanghi ordered the case to be heard by Justice Varma.
Aditi Sinha, an advocate, represented the petitioner in the case.
Senior Advocate Satvik Varma, as well as advocates Shadman Sidiquie, Varun Chopra, and Drishti Harpalani, represented Spaze Towers.
Advocates Naman Joshi, Guneet Sidhu, and Yuvraj represented the applicant.
