The President of India has assigned former Supreme Court judge, Justice S Abdul Nazeer, as the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Nazeer retired from the Supreme Court on January 4th, and was part of the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi judgment.
Born on January 5, 1958, he enrolled as an advocate on February 18, 1983 and practiced law before the Karnataka High Court. He was appointed as an additional judge of the High Court on May 12, 2003.
During his farewell from the top court, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud spoke highly of Nazeer’s simplicity, mentioning that the judge did not possess a passport until 2019 and had only recently traveled abroad for the first time to Moscow.
