A petition has been filed with the Supreme Court bench of Justices CT Ravikumar and Sudhanshu Dhulia, requesting a special investigation team (SIT) investigate into the violent protests against the Agnipath scheme, which proposes inducting young people into the army for a period of four years. The petition would be heard by Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana, according to the bench.
In addition to requesting a SIT investigation into the violence, the petition also requests the formation of a judicial commission to examine the scheme’s impact on national security and the Army.
