Justice Jaswant Singh was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court by the Central Government, which notified the appointment through a post on the website of the Ministry of Law & Justice.
The recommendation for his appointment was made by the Supreme Court Collegium on January 25, after having previously recommended him for the same position in the Orissa High Court, which was later recalled.
Justice Singh has a background in law and business administration, having studied at Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak. He worked in various legal positions in Haryana before being appointed as a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2007, and later transferred to the Orissa High Court in 2021.
